  4. ~1 THE "MOVIES AVAILABLE" SCREEN
  5. The upper right hand corner of the TV Screen displays
  6. the number of movies in this menu.
  7.  
  8. To read the information about a specific movie, type
  9. the first few letters of its title.  For example, to
  10. read about CASABLANCA type the letters  CASA.  When the
  11. title you want is highlighted, press ENTER to display
  12. the "Now Showing" screen.
  13.  
  14. You can also browse through the movie list with the Up
  15. and Down Arrow keys, or by scrolling the menu bar with
  16. your mouse.
  17.  
  18. Press the F2key to perform a SEARCH.   The real power
  19. of this movie guide is found in its ability to help you
  20. search for particular types of movies.
  21.  
  22. To PRINT the information on a movie or group of movies,
  23. press the F7key to MARK that movie, then press the
  24. F3key to print the movies that are marked.
  25.  
  26. Press the F10key to quit this program.
  27. ~2 MAIN SEARCH SCREEN
  28. Use the Arrow Keys to highlight the kind of search you
  29. want to do, then press ENTER.  To start the Search
  30. Routine the press the F5FindIt! key.

  32. For example, find all the COMEDIES starring JOHN WAYNE:
  33.  
  34.     1.  Arrow over to the CATEGORY Icon on the "Ticket"
  35.         screen then press ENTER. from this menu.  When
  36.         the category menu appears, arrow over to the
  37.         COMEDY selection, then press ENTER.
  38.  
  39.     2.  Arrow over to the CAST Icon on the "Ticket"
  40.         screen, and press ENTER.  When the cast menu
  41.         appears, type Wayne,John then press ENTER.
  42.  
  43.     3.  The "Ticket" screen will reappear with a red
  44.         check mark on the Category and Cast Icons.
  45.         Press the F5FindIt! key.  The "TV" screen
  46.         will appear with a list of movies will appear
  47.         which features John Wayne in a Comedy.
  48. ~3 CATEGORY SEARCH SCREEN
  49. This movie guide helps you search for movies which
  50. qualify in one, two, or three categories.  For example
  51. you can search for:
  52.    COMEDY                            (1 Category)
  53.    COMEDY and ROMANCE                (2 Categories)
  54.    COMEDY and ROMANCE and WESTERN    (3 Categories)

  56. 1st Example
  57. From the Category Menu, arrow over to the COMEDY icon
  58. and press ENTER.  When the "Ticket" screen appears,
  59. press the F5Find It! key to search for ALL comedies.
  60.  
  61. 2nd Example
  62. From the Category Menu, arrow over to the COMEDY Icon
  63. and press F7Mark.  Now arrow over to the FAMILY Icon
  64. and press the F7Mark key.  A red check mark will now
  65. cover both the Comedy and Family Icons.  Press ENTER.
  66. When the "Ticket" screen appears press, F5Find It! to
  67. search for all movies which are BOTH comedies AND
  68. family movies.

  70. ~4 REVIEW SEARCH SCREEN
  71. Movies in this software are categorized in one of three
  72. categories:
  73.     Good
  74.     Average
  75.     Poor
  76.  
  77. Movies categorized as Good are those movies which
  78. were in the Top 10 in box office sales, were nominated
  79. for or earned "Best Picture" by the Motion Picture
  80. Academy, or were enjoyed very much by the reviewer.
  81.  
  82. Average movies are generally enjoyable to watch but
  83. are weak in one way or another.
  84.  
  85. We have tried to keep as many Poor movies out of this
  86. movie guide as possible.  These movies have major flaws
  87. and generally should be avoided.

  89. Use the arrow keys to select either "Good", "Average"
  90. or "Poor", then press ENTER.  When the "Ticket" screen
  91. appears press the F5Find It! key.
  92. ~5 ACTOR / ACTRESS SEARCH SCREEN
  93. To highlight the name of the actress or actor you want
  94. to search for, type the first few letters of their last
  95. name.  For example, to search for all Mel Gibson
  96. movies, type GIBS and arrow down to Mel Gibson's name
  97. and press the ENTER key.  At the "Ticket" screen, press
  98. the F5 Find It! key.
  99.  
  100. You can also search for movies which have two actors or
  101. actresses.  For example, to find all movies with have
  102. BOTH John Wayne AND Maureen O'Hara:
  103.  
  104.     1) Highlight John Wayne's name (as described above)
  105.        and press the F7Mark key.
  106.     2) Now highlight Maureen O'Hara's name and press
  107.        the F7 Mark key.
  108.     3) When you are done marking your selections, press
  109.        the ENTER key.
  110.     4) On the "Ticket" Screen, press F5FindIt!

  112. All five movies where Maureen O'Hara and John Wayne
  113. appeared together will appear on the "TV" screen.
  114. ~6 DIRECTOR SEARCH SCREEN
  115. As a general rule, if you like a movie, you will enjoy
  116. other movies by the same director.  To find all the
  117. movies by a certain director, type the first few
  118. letters of the director's last name, Down Arrow until
  119. it appears on the screen.

  121. For example, to search for all Steven Spielberg movies,
  122. type SPIEL, and when you find his name, press ENTER.
  123. When the "Ticket" screen appears, press the F5FindIt!
  124. key to begin your search.

  126. ~7 "YEAR" SEARCH SCREEN
  127. The YEAR search is especially valuable for those who
  128. like "old movies" or "recent releases".

  130. 1st Example
  131. To search for movies from 1990 to present, enter 90 and
  132. press the ENTER key (the automatic "TO" year is the
  133. present year).  Press F5 Find It! to begin the search.

  135. 2nd Example
  136. To search for movies made in 1939 (which many critics
  137. agree was the best movie year ever), enter 39, the TAB
  138. key 39, then press ENTER. Press F5 Find It! to search.

  140. 3rd Example
  141. To search for all the movies made in the 1950s, enter
  142. 50, the TAB key, 59, ENTER, and then F5 Find It!
  143.  
  144. 4th Example
  145. To search for all movies made before 1940, press TAB
  146. (leaving a blank in the first field), 39, then press
  147. ENTER.  At the "Ticket" Screen press F5 Find It!
  148. ~8 MPAA RATING SEARCH SCREEN
  149. The MPAA rating has undergone several changes since it
  150. was established in the mid 1960s, but is still useful
  151. as a general guide.  Movies which were formerly rated
  152. "GP" we have rated "PG" and movies which received the
  153. "M" rating we rated "PG-13".  "X" rated movies and
  154. recent movies which were released in the movie theaters
  155. as "R", but came out in video as "Not Rated" to allow
  156. more sex or violence we have generally rated "NC-17".

  158. 1st Example
  159. To search for all "R" rated movies, Down Arrow to the R
  160. Icon then press ENTER.  Press F5 Find It! to search.

  162. 2nd Example
  163. To search for all "G", "PG" or "Not Rated" movies (the
  164. movies which contain the least amount of objectionable
  165. material)
  166.     1) highlight the "G" icon and press F7 Mark.
  167.     2) Mark "PG" and "Not Rated" the same way.
  168.     3) Press ENTER.
  169.     4) At the "Ticket" Screen, press  F5FindIt!
  170. ~9 KEY WORD SEARCH SCREEN
  171. The key word search is perhaps the most flexible and
  172. fun search of all because you can search for any word,
  173. or consecutive group of words, which appears in the
  174. synopsis or in any review.
  175.  
  176. For example, to display the movies which had the
  177. highest box office gross each year, enter the key words
  178. Number1, then press ENTER.  When the "Ticket" screen
  179. appears, press the F5FindIt! key.

  181. Use the same method to search for Top5 which will
  182. display the top five grossing movies of each year, and
  183. Top10 to display the top ten grossing movies.

  186.                   COMBINING SEARCHES
  187.  
  188. Combine searches for even more power.  For example, to
  189. list the Top 10 grossing movies of 1993 combine a Key
  190. Word Search for "Top 10" with a Year Search for 1993.

  193. Here's how to find the top 10 movies for 1993:

  195.     1) At the "Ticket" screen Down Arrow to the Key
  196.        Word Icon, and press ENTER.  (You have already
  197.        done this step.)

  199.     2) Type the phrase Top10 in the field on the
  200.        "Candy Bar" screen, then press ENTER.  The
  201.        "Ticket" screen will appear and a red check mark
  202.        will cover the Key Word Icon.

  204.     3) Arrow over to the Year Icon and press ENTER.
  205.        The "Cup" screen will appear.

  207.     4) Input 93 in the first field and press the TAB
  208.        key.
